Lesson from a Hummingbird

As I sat on the deck eating my lunch, a hummingbird flew up to the flowers on the deck, paused, then flew down lower to the flowers in my flowerbed on the ground. It drank for a few seconds, then flew up to a limb on the maple tree above and sat on a branch. It looked so tiny just sitting there on the branch. It sat there for about a minute, then flew back down to the flowerbed for more nourishment. It made me think of how as humans we need to take a minute or two every once in a while to regroup and rest. Life is so amazing and sometimes we are running so fast in our own worlds that we fail to see the little things that make life worth living. There are so many things to see and so many times, we fail to see them. It was a good lesson for me about taking the much needed pauses in life to drink in the wonders of our world.

Great post, Mom! Today as I heard the kids giggling and playing together in the other room I had a similar thought. It hit me that before long they'll be all grown up, so I need to really enjoy the sweet moments we have together now and not get so caught up in the busyness of life. Love you!
